SF expands overnight store closure rule to SoMa (+ 18 more months)

The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee voted to expand the Tenderloin's overnight retail closure rule into SoMa and extend it for another 18 months. The committee also recommended a liquor license transfer for Amal's Market on Haight Street.

TL;DR

  • Committee voted 3-0 to expand the Tenderloin overnight retail closure pilot into SoMa and extend it 18 months from the ordinance's effective date.
  • The rule blocks retail food and tobacco stores from opening 12 a.m.–5 a.m. (or 2 a.m.–5 a.m. for ABC-regulated stores). Restaurants and bars are not affected.
  • Committee voted 3-0 to recommend a liquor license transfer for Amal's Market at 1416 Haight Street.
